John James Audubon and The Birds of America

You are Invited to a Community Class!

John James Audubon was a French-American artist and naturalist who, starting in the 1820s, set out to document every bird in the U.S. The result was his masterwork The Birds of America, a collection of 435 hand-painted bird prints, considered by many to be the finest book ever published. In this course, you’ll learn about Audubon’s early life and his artistic methods. We’ll also take a deep dive into the prints themselves. We will end by considering Audubon’s legacy. Each day will end with a 10-minute art appreciation session focusing entirely on his masterworks.
5 sessions total, on Thursdays beginning on September 25, 2025 (NO CLASS ON OCTOBER 9)

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Meets in the Main Auditorium at RiverMead

Cost is $40 for the entire session.
Checks should be made payable to RiverMead. For questions, contact Kim Murphy at KMurphy@RiverMead.org.
